The Wedding

They sat there for hours, hands in hands and fingers entwined.

"It's just a matter of few minutes and we would be eternally together. The wait is finally about to end." He said, holding her beautiful face in his palms, caressing her fleecy cheeks. After the tedious efforts of convincing, their families and the community had finally agreed to their marriage. They were about to get married in the next few moments...
Her beautiful locks were carelessly mingling with wind over her face. He neatly tucked them behind her ears. Sense of achievement flooded over his racing heart as he hugged her.
She looked deep into his eyes.. The eyes that she had longed for. The eyes which she wished she could drown herself in. The selfless eyes which never wished anything but her company. The selfless heart that had vowed to stand with her against all the odds. The selfless self that was finally going to be hers.

Temple bells rang as the priest called their names out. Colouring the wonderful sketches of their togetherness, they proceeded towards temple.
Temple was full of people. People who were beautifully dressed. People who had come to attend their wedding. They had never seen such a pompous arrangement ever before.
'Our love deserves this celebration', she blushed as he whispered into her ear.

"Do you realise that you will have to accept the condition put by us once you get married? Think about it. You still have a chance to back off." one of their guests said, twirling his big moustache...

They were too euphoric to listen to him..

He held her hand tight as they finished their seventh round around the sacred fire. They were finally, officially married.

"We got your wishes fulfilled. Now it's your turn to fulfill our conditions. From now on you both will serve as a big lesson to all those who dare to marry outside their community" the man with the big moustache said.

The time had come. They were all set to reach the place where no one would disturb them. The place where their pristine love would never be disrespected. He held her tight as a sharp bullet pierced her chest and he suddenly felt the other hit his. They smiled for the last time, lying in the pool of blood as their souls united to be one...

They say weddings gift you the worldly blessings.. Theirs gifted them the death.
